Our favorite Danish furniture brand Gubi reissued another icon of the French decoration. After Mathieu Mategot it is Jacques Adnet (1901 - 1984).

In the last years Gubi reissued many hidden modernist icons, such as Barba Corsini, Jens Quistgaard and some others. Paris decorator Jacques Adnet is next in the line. Decorator who worked mainly with leather (he worked for Hermés) developed during 1950s his own style influenced by art-deco as well as modernism. His leather mirrors which produce Gubi right now are the fine examples of his style.

Yesterday we received the another wooden masterwork by our favorite collaborator, Czech legendary designer and craftsman Antonín Hepnar. In the very nice old box with the op-art pattern we found 15 owls.

His Owl is simple and brilliantly made decorative object in the abstract form. Designed in 1983 in the bigger size, our Owl is smaller and produced in the edition of 15 pieces. Commissioned specially for our London Pop-up store which is held at London Design Festival this week, the Owl is the great example of the unique Czech design and craft.

More about our London exposition in the next topic.

On the picture you see Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret on Chandigarh's Lake Shukna in a pedal boat designed by Jeanneret.

Yes, during 1950s, when these modernist masters built whole new capital of Punjab state in India, Chandigarh, they designed everything from the master plan to furniture, manhole covers or pedal boats for the lake.

From 20 September to 29 October 2011 you can see exhibition called Le Corbusier & Pierre Jeanneret: The Chandigarh Project in Zürich Anton Meier gallery. We love this pedal boat , as well as ascetic Standard lamp, bot designed by Pierre Jeanneret.
